Pop goes the world

Yesterday was a good day.
After a day at the office and a whipping of Jose in Pro-Evo (7-0 just to be clear),
we headed out to Chris and Hilda Orr's for a fabulous BBQ. Chris likes his food
to be cooked. no chance of food poisoning. It was good.
afterwards Donna and I came home and watched episode 5 of prison break. awesome.
But the thing thats stuck in my head since yesterday is this book I'm reading. you can see over in there on the right.

Pop goes the church,Tim Collins.

Where Bill Hybels talks about the seeker sensitive church, Collin's talks about not just being sensitive to the culture, but embracing it! Why do we fear bringing people to church?it's a different world. That said, Cornerstone is a edgy boundary pushing church, and i have no problem inviting people there as it's relevant.

my question to you is this, how do we engage culture in church?
your comments please.

The year of the Revolution

We're in the middle of September, Jose our new intern is here, church is in full flow, mark is running marathons, and brian is looking younger than ever.
after mark ran his 13.1 miles last saturday, I've decided that this year I'm going to start running. i've got a list of new years resolutions that i'm starting now.
I can run 3 miles now at 6.5 mph. I want to bring that up to 5 by this time next month. 9 miles by Christmas. and 15 by May.

I don't know what you think of these goals. are they daft?
do you have a good regime? what do i need to do to get there.
if anyones up for some training let me know.

I also have the ambition to learn 20 new songs by May to be played off the cuff at anytime.
as well as writing a record breaking album, also to be released by May.

here's hoping.
